In addition to serving executives at nonprofit organizations, Middle Makers usually has an idea in the works and a scheme at play.

The Offter
Let’s begin with the irony. You’re reading about The Offter while you’re online. The Offter, however, is all about being offline.
The Offter began with a question I posed to a reliable source of cultural savviness. I asked her, “When the Internet first appeared and then smartphones arrived and then everyone was constantly online, a term came into existence, 'Always-On.' An always-on person was, well, always online. Always available. Never unplugged. But I know that people these days are tired of the digital tether. There must be a new term that describes the person who isn’t always-on. What’s that called?”
She was stumped.
Several hours of pacing and thinking and praying and journaling later, I decided to become an offter.
But, how?
I’ll be sharing about The Offter. For those available to discuss it offline, perhaps alongside a bottle of Scotch, we’ll talk about it together on a back porch. Or, perhaps we can go for a walk and talk about it outside. I’ll also be sharing about The Offter on my Substack.
